The Winning Announcement!

It was a banner day for us at RNBC Tuesday May 4th.  Early in the day, we learned that we were voted the #1 brewery at Beerology!!!  The event, which was hosted at the Buffalo Museum of Science, was attended by over 500 craft beer/science fans who tasted sampled from over 25 different breweries.  We brought ‘Not Yo’ Grandpas’ Cream Ale and ‘Polar Vortex’ Belgian Dubbel.  Did you know, that our ‘Polar Vortex’ checked in as the ‘highest calorie’ filled beer by the beer judges at Beerology?!  Well, both are still on tap at our brewery but in limited quantities, so stop by soon to try!

Bring people like Cheryl Johnson and Jen Breier to rep your table. You come home with the hardware.

We are truly honored to have won this award, and surprised in the sense that we had only been open one month and was ‘up against’ some serious ‘competitors’ like Southern Tier, CBW, Big Ditch and many more. We ‘underdogs’ really are blessed and very thankful that the folks at Beerology voted for us working class guys who have been grinding day in and day out, burning midnight oil in the name of putting out a quality beer and brand.  Cheers to you for diggin’ our fruits of our labor!

Special thanks to Jen Breier and Cheryl Johnson.  They spent that their Saturday with us and made it an award winning experience for those who came to our table!  Also, cheers to Community Beer Works who placed in a close 2nd place.

Continuing in our winning ways, we attended the 5th annual Visit Buffalo Niagara’s Beacon Awards as nominees for the Tourism Initiative of the Year award.  We were part of a team with the other WNY Breweries as the Craft Beer category.  The announcement from the presenter stated “In a no brainier decision…the winner is Craft Beer in WNY!”  This event was held at the Buffalo Convention Center at 12pm and held over 500 business people from multiple service and tourist related businesses in the WNY region.  The trophy was then presented to us, Flying Bison and Riverworks on stage in front of the large group. Check out the selfie we took while we accepted the award too!

Thanks again to all who helped us win Best Brewery at Beerology and to those who continue to #drinkLocal and support the growing, and popular WNY Craft Brewing scene.  Cheers goes to you!

I give you guys average rating for your grand opening. Your beer is good, BUT, 10 oz glasses? I hope it was that you were looking to cover the bands you had by selling short beers. I can find a ton of other excellent craft products selling pints at the same price. You won’t make it to my purchase list this way.

That said, I wish you success.

      Hi Geoffrey,
Thanks for the comments and the wish for success. Success only comes from feedback like yours so we do appreciate it greatly. The Grand Opening was indeed a cover free event and we were pleased with the results and feedback from all. We learn quick and adapt just as quickly. Our beers on the grand opening were 11.5oz and pricing was a little skewed to try and keep things simple for everyone. We lost on some prices and made on others and do understand the concern. The prices were split up the middle. Since then we have had an overhaul on our pricing, which we believe will please everyone, more for your money for sure. All our beers, with the exception of imperials, are served in pint sized glasses and we have created a build your own Flight that features 7oz beer samples (the largest around). Hope you can make it in again soon to give some of the new beers a try; we have some of our most popular back and some new beers on as well.
      Regards,
Jason Havens – Rusty Nickel Brewing Co.
